Close, But No Cigar. A Nice Note, Though.

Oink Ink Radio is an audio production house in New York with an amazing client roster. Every year, they have a Dead Radio Contest--this is their ninth. You send in unproduced radio scripts (the ones the clients rejected), they pick a favorite and fly you in to produce it. Pretty cool, huh?

Well, I sent in a script this year that I wrote for a bank. And while it didn't win, from the hundreds of entries, I made the list of finalists. Which puts me in some damn good company: there's folks from BBDO, WongDoody and DDB on there, among others.

For a freelancer working out of a shack in his backyard, this is a pretty big deal. But it's also further proof that I'm a loser. Depends on how you look at it, I guess.
